SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (January 2, 2017) – A passenger was left pinned inside a car after the driver slammed into the back of a semi on Monday afternoon on Carmel Mountain Road, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 2:50 am at the intersection of Carmel Mountain Road and Conference Way. A GMC Yukon was driving along Carmel Mountain Road when the driver lost control and slammed into the back of a parked semi-truck. The driver then fled the scene, leaving behind a passenger.
Responding paramedics and firefighters extricated the passenger from the vehicle, then transported the victim to Palomar Medical Center. The driver later returned to the scene and surrendered to authorities. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
