SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (March 28, 2017) – A wrong way driver caused a multi car collision on State Route 56 on Tuesday evening morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. (map)

The accident happened around 11:42 pm on the eastbound side of State Route 56. A wrong way driver was reported heading westbound in eastbound lanes and officers quickly responded. Before they could arrive, the wrong way driver struck a Nissan Rogue, then struck several other vehicles. One car overturned as a result of the impact.

At least one person was seriously injured in the accident, and paramedics rushed to the scene. The condition of those involved is unknown at this time, and the accident remains under investigation.
