The accident occurred at approximately after 3:30 p.m. The 50-year-old woman, driving a 2002 Lexus sedan, attempted to make a left turn from Via Mar De Delfinas onto Ocean Air Drive. The Lexus drove into the path of a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 24-year-old motorist. The Jeep collided into the driver side of the Lexus, according to the San Diego Police.
The 50-year-old woman sustained severe trauma, a fractured hip, an open fracture of her left femur, and internal bleeding. Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the woman to the hospital for treatment of those injuries, according to Sgt. Michael Tansey.
The driver of the Jeep along with the teenage passenger of the Lexus sustained minor injuries. The initial report suggested that the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee had the right-of-way prior to the collision.
