Fatal Pedestrian Accident Under Investigation
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (December 8, 2016) – An elderly pedestrian died Thursday after he was struck by a car while crossing a street in Rancho Penasquitos, reported FOX5 San Diego. (map)
The collision occurred at about 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard and Calle de las Rosas.
The victim was crossing Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard when a Honda Odyssey, driven by a 60-year-old woman, crashed into him.
A preliminary investigation revealed the woman had a green traffic signal as she approached the intersection.
The pedestrian was transported by paramedics to Scripps La Jolla Hospital where he died of his injuries.
The driver of the Honda remained at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
