“Drunk driver arrested”
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (December 17, 2016) – According to the California Highway Patrol, 38-year-old Sarita Shakya was killed on Saturday night in a fatal wrong-way DUI collision on in the 4S Ranch on 16250 Camino Del Norte. (map)
CHP Officer Steven Robinson reported that a Toyota Sienna minivan, driven by the drunk driver, was traveling on the wrong side of the road around 11:45 p.m. when the Sienna collided with a gray Toyota Corolla, driven by Shakya.
Officer Robinson states that Shakya was pronounced dead at the scene while the suspected DUI driver was transporte to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla with major injuries. The driver was placed under arrest at the hospital on suspicion of drunk driving causing injury, and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
