RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA (April 10, 2017)- A San Bernardino County Sheriff Deputy was injured in an accident on Monday afternoon on Carnelian and Monte Vista Streets. (map)
The collision occurred around 2:45 p.m. The officer saw a stolen motorcycle and attempted to stop the motorcycle rider. The rider did not stop when the officer flagged him down and a chase began throughout several residential neighborhoods. At the intersection of Carnelian and Monte Vista Streets, a deputy tried to pass a vehicle that was making a left hand turn and the collision occurred.
The deputy sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the other vehicle also sustained injuries and received treatment at the scene. The theft suspect kept operating the stolen motorcycle until finally dumping it and then attempting to flee on foot. However, the Ontario Police Department were able to locate the suspect and bring him into custody. The suspect was identified as Garrett Jones, 38, and was wanted on a felony warrant.
