LAKE HAVASU, CALIFORNIA (August 6, 2017) – Five people were involved in a two boat collision between Havasu Landing and Windsor State Park, Sunday evening, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s press release. (map)
The accident was reported at approximately 9:30 p.m. A 25 foot Carrera deck boat with six occupants was traveling east from Havasu Landing Marina heading toward Windsor Beach State Park. The Carrera deck boat collided with a 28-foot Eliminator with three passengers, according to police officials.
Three people from each boat were ejected into the water. The Eliminator sank. An occupant from the Carrera successfully got all six people onto the boat and continue to Winsdor State Beach.
The operator of the eliminator was pronounced dead at the scene. Four people were transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center. One of the victims was then transported to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released. Sheriff’s are soliciting help from anyone who may have information about the collision to please contact Deputy Brian Weck of the Colorado River Station at 760-326-9200.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the fatal collision. An investigation is ongoing.
