SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (January 27, 2017) – Two people were injured after crashing into a barbecue smoker that had fallen off of a truck on the 80 Freeway on Friday morning, according to a California Highway Patrol report. (map)
The accident happened on Friday morning on the 80 Freeway near Watt Avenue. A pickup truck was hauling a barbecue smoker behind it when the smoker came loose, falling onto the freeway. An SUV swerved to avoid the smoker, but the two motorcyclists behind the SUV crashed into the trailer and smoker.
One of the motorcyclists was in critical condition as a result of the accident, and the other motorcyclist sustained a serious leg injury. The investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability, and the current condition of the motorcyclists is unknown.
