SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (March 1, 2017) – A fatal multi car crash occurred on Highway 50 on Wednesday morning, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 12:16 a.m. on the eastbound side of Highway 50, near Howe Avenue. A car driven by a 22 year old man identified as Sergio Guadalupe Corona Jimenez, crashed into the guardrail on the side of the road and rebounded his car into the slow lane of the highway. He was then broadsided by a second vehicle. The impact was enough to dislodge the engine of Jimenez’s car, which was struck by a third car.

Sergio Jimenez was tragically pronounced dead in the accident. The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability.
