The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. when a bicyclist and owner of the dog were talking. The cyclist was bit on the face and leg. The Sacramento Fire Department was called to the scene. The victim of the dog bite was treated at the scene and later sought further treatment for the injuries sustained from the dog bite.
The dog was startled by something, according to Sacramento County spokeswoman Kim Nava. The dog owner was interviewed and the dog was taken to the Sacramento County Animal Control Shelter. It was unknown of what type of breed the dog is. Rangers issued 107 citations and 492 warnings for leash violations in 2014 and 2015, the last years. The dog was on a leash at the time the incident occurred. No information was given as to whether the dog owner was cited.
“Police will gather evidence and conduct interviews with witnesses to determine liability” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm. “Any injured party involved in a presonal injury accident will have a bodily injury claim against the owner of the dog who caused the accident.”
