Ruth Barber and Wayne Barber Injured in Car Accident on Highway 4

CALAVERAS COUNTY, CALIFORNIA (August 26, 2017) – Ruth and Wayne Barber were both injured after a head on collision with an asleep driver on Highway 4, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 2:25 pm on Saturday, on Highway 4 near Sunset Ridge Court. A 61 year old man was driving 1 2013 Ford Escape eastbound when he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, drifting into the westbound lanes and colliding head on with a 2013 Subaru Outback.

65 year old Ruth Barber, the driver of the Outback, was seriously injured in the accident. Her passenger, 73 year old Wayne Barber, also sustained major injuries and both were airlifted to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. Their current condition is unknown. The driver of the Escape, identified as 61 year old Donald Burns, also sustained injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. The accident remains under open investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
