ROUND LAKE PARK: Woman Injured in Metra Train Crash on Route 134 and Porter Road

ROUND LAKE PARK, ILLINOIS (JULY 2, 2017) – A woman was involved in a train collision on Route 134 near the Porter Drive crossing Sunday morning according to the Round Lake Park Police Department. (map)

The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. when the woman motorist traveling westbound on Route 134, was struck by a Metra train near the Porter Drive crossing, according to Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko.

One witness saw the vehicle going airborne as the train hit it. Rescue crews were called to the scene. The woman sustained major injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle. The woman was transported Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where her condition later became stable.

No other details of the crash were immediately available. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision
