MACON, GEORGIA (December 19, 2016) – Richard Carl Anderson, a 62 year old man from Peach County, has been identified as the man killed in a tragic workplace accident on Monday at a sand mine, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened at the Atlanta Sand and Supply Co on Sand Pit Road. An employee later identified as 62 year old Richard Carl Anderson, accidentally fell into a hopper full of sand at the mine around 5:20 am. Once he fell in, Richard was quickly engulfed by the sand.

A responding coroner tragically declared Richard Carl Anderson dead at the scene a short time later. The investigation is still ongoing to determine cause and liability in this tragic accident.
