“Investigation Ongoing”

RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA (April 13, 2017) – Two bicyclists were injured Saturday night in a hit-and-run accident that involved a vehicle and two bicycles at the intersection of Jackson Street and Audrey Avenue. (map)

The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. According to authorities, the two bicyclists were hit by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene immediately. The bicyclists were reported to have been riding inside the bicycle lane when they were both hit.

Both sustained moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect driver who fled the scene scene was later identified as Yulissa Estrada, 19. Estrada turned herself in the following morning and was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run.

“A motorist injured at the hands of a hit-and-run driver is subject to a bodily injury claim against the negligent parties insurance, assuming they have insurance once the driver is caught. If the negligent party does not carry auto insurance, injured parties will still have a claim if the motorist carries uninsured motorist coverage on their vehicle also known as UM,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm.
