Police were called to an accident at approximately 11:45 p.m. The bicyclists, traveling in the bicycle lane, were struck by a motorist, who was later identified as 19-year-old Yulissa Estrada. Estrada fled the scene.

The bicyclists sustained moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Estrada later turned herself into police and was arrested for felony hit-and run charges.

“A motorist injured at the hands of a hit-and-run driver is subject to a bodily injury claim against the negligent parties insurance, assuming they have insurance once the driver is caught. If the negligent party does not carry auto insurance, injured parties will still have a claim if the motorist carries uninsured motorist coverage on their vehicle also known as UM,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm.
