Hit-and-run driver apprehended
RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA (December 12, 2016) – According to the Riverside Police Department, 19-year-old Linda Rodriguez was killed on Friday in a hit-and-run collision on Magnolia Avenue and Tyler Street. (map)
The RPD reported that the deadly hit-and-run accident occurred around 5:50 a.m. A Nissan Sentra, driven by Rodriguez, was traveling westbound on Magnolia Avenue when a van moved forward at a red light causing the Nissan to clip the van and crash into an electrical pole. The van fled the scene but was followed by a witness until they retrieved his license plate number on Indiana Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard.
The RPD states that Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators were able to locate the suspect vehicle along with the 59-year-old suspect Erasto Gomez. He was arrested on felony hit-and-run causing serious injury or death and misdemeanor manslaughter.
