RICHMOND, VIRGINIA (July 9, 2017) – Clayon Roper was identified as the man that was killed when his car was struck by an Amtrak train on Sunday evening, according to a local news source. (map)
24 year old Clayon G. Roper Jr was driving a 2017 Ford Taurus eastbound on Broad Rock Boulevard around 6:45 pm on Saturday when the railroad alert system began flashing and the warning arms began to come down. Clayon reportedly kept driving, and was struck by an Amtrak train.
Clayon Roper was tragically killed as a result of the accident. It is unknown at this time if Roper drove around the crossing arms or if they did not come down in time, and the investigation is ongoing.
