REDDING, CALIFORNIA (December 28, 2016) – A 37 year old man from Redding was struck by a car on Highway 49 on Wednesday, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 5:40 am on the northbound side of Highway 49 near Aaron Cool Drive. A 2006 Dodge driving northbound driven by a 32 year old man from Nevada City, suddenly struck 37 year old pedestrian Ryan Harper on Highway 49.

Ryan Harper was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. The accident remains under investigation at this time, and authorities are attempting to decipher cause and liability.
