RAYNE: Pedestrian Hit by Train and Killed on Mervine Kahn Avenue

RAYNE, LOUISIANA (November 27, 2017) – A pedestrian was struck by a train and killed on Mervine Kahn Avenue on Monday, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 1:00 pm on Mervine Kahn Avenue, between American Legion Drive and Harrop Street. A westbound Amtrak train heading from New Orleans to Beaumont struck a man walking northbound across the tracks.

First responders to the scene tragically declared the man dead at the scene as a result of the accident. He has been identified as Harold Rogers. Initial reports indicate the crossing is equipped with warning signs and crossing arms, but it is unknown if they were functioning at the time of the accident. The accident remains under investigation at this time, and Lexton Law will continue to provide updates.
