RANCHO CORDOVA, CALIFORNIA (February 23, 2017) – A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed at the intersection of Sunrise Boulevard and Coloma Road, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of Sunrise Boulevard and Coloma Road. A pedestrian identified only as a male was crossing Sunrise Boulevard when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene.

The pedestrian was tragically declared dead from injuries sustained in the accident. The suspect vehicle is described as an SUV or a truck and initial reports indicate according to skid marks on the road it appears the vehicle attempted to stop before striking the pedestrian. The investigation is ongoing.
