PORTLAND: Jon Ferrell Killed in Train Accident near South Russell Street

“Train Accident”

PORTLAND, TENNESSEE (April 13, 2017) – A Portland teenager was killed after being hit by a train on Thursday evening, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 10:20 pm near the South Russell Street intersection. A southbound freight train struck a 17 year old boy later identified as Jon Ferrell.

Jon Ferrell was tragically pronounced dead at the scene as a result of their injuries. The accident remains under investigation to determine what the teenager was doing on the tracks, and where liability lies in this accident.

“Almost one death or injury per day occurs on the rail system in the United States. Many of these tragic deaths are avoidable, the rail system is antiquated and needs a complete overhaul to ensure the safety of pedestrians, drivers, and train passengers,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm.
