PORTERVILLE, CALIFORNIA (January 26, 2017) – A crash involving a stolen white 2001 Honda van may have also involved pedestrians on West Roby Avenue, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol. (map)
The accident happened around 7:05 am on Thursday morning, in the 1560 block of West Roby Avenue near Newcomb St. A white 2001 Honda van reported as stolen allegedly crashed into a tree in the area. Witnesses said they heard children screaming, and think a pedestrian may also have been involved.
At least one person was rushed to a hospital in serious condition. The accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability, and authorities have confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen prior to the accident.
