PORTERVILLE, CA (December 13, 2016)– Five people were seriously injured in a multiple vehicle collision on eastbound Highway 190 near Highway 168 on Saturday. According to the CHP, there were three vehicles involved in the accident.
The crash occurred when 34-year-old Jesus Diaz Santoyo was rear-ended by a vehicle that was being driven by Araseli Barajas, 28, as Santoyo was slowing down and preparing to make a left hand turn. As a result, Santoyo’s vehicle was pushed into another lane and collided with a Honda vehicle that was being driven by Armando Garcia, 47.
Santoyo and the passenger in the Honda, Jesus Fernandez, both sustained severe injuries. They were both taken to the hospital, as well as Garcia, who had sustained minor injuries. The case is still being investigated to determine who is liable as well as if drugs or alcohol played a role.
“Those who are involved any form of traffic accident regardless of the degree, may suffer injuries that don’t present themselves immediately,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law, a personal injury law firm. “If you were in an accident it is important to get checked out, back and neck pain can be very serious and shouldn’t be ignored.”
