PHOENIX: Wrong Way Accident on Interstate 10 near 19th Avenue

PHOENIX, ARIZONA (September 8, 2017) – 7 people were injured in a wrong way accident on Interstate 10 on Friday morning, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened early Friday morning in the westbound lanes of the 10 Freeway, near 19th Avenue. A passenger car struck a Uhaul Truck towing a car on a trailer, and possibly several other vehicles. It is unknown which vehicle was driving the wrong way.

At least three adults and four children were hospitalized as a result of the accident. As of this accident, there have been 17 wrong way collisions resulting in injuries and 12 resulting in fatalities this year alone. Wrong way drivers are a consistent issue in Phoenix, and often result in serious accidents. Friday’s accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
