Phoenix, Arizona (August 3, 2017) – A woman pedestrian was involved in a deadly collision on 27th Avenue near Montebello Avenue Thursday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department. (map)

The driver of an SUV was traveling northbound on 27th Avenue when it struck woman crossing 27th Avenue. The woman sustained critical injuries. Emergency crews were called to the scene. The woman was transported to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with police officials. The north and southbound lanes were closed between Bethany Home Road and Missouri Avenue. No citation were issued.
