PHOENIX, ARIZONA (May 1, 2017) – Two people were killed in an accident on Interstate 17 on Monday morning, according to a local news source. (map)
A motorcycle went down around 5:00 am on the southbound side of I-17 in Phoenix near Yorkshire Drive. Three vehicles pulled over to help the injured motorcyclist, with several people getting out of their cars. Moments later, a third car plowed into the accident scene, striking the motorcyclist and several bystanders.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, as was a female bystander. At least two other people were rushed to the hospital in critical condition after the accident. The involved vehicles are described as a white SUV belonging to Transcend Security, a company based out of Scottsdale, a red Toyota Camry, and a blue Dodge pickup truck. It is unknown which vehicle was the car that plowed into the accident scene. The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
