PHOENIX, ARIZONA (March 12, 2017) – A bicyclist was killed in a hit and run accident on Sunday evening on 40th Street, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 9:30 pm on 40th Street near Bell Road. A car identified as a silver 2013-2015 Ford Fusion struck a bicyclist before fleeing the scene immediately. The accident happened right in front of the fire station, but by the time firefighters made it outside, the vehicle was gone.

The bicyclist was identified as a 54 year old man, and was tragically pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. The collision remains under active investigation at this time to determine cause and liability, and authorities are on the lookout for the hit and run driver.
