PETERSBURG, VIRGINIA (January 31, 2017) – A dump truck was involved in a fatal accident that killed Jessica Velvin on Route 460 near Wagner Road on Tuesday, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 5:44 pm on Tuesday at the intersection of Route 460 and Wagner Road. Two dump trucks were traveling together, and the second dump truck failed to see the light change. The dump truck then struck a vehicle that had the right of way on Wagner Road, before striking two other vehicles.

A 23 year old woman, identified as Jessica Velvin, was tragically killed in the collision. Four other people, including a juvenile, sustained injuries. The dump truck ended up off the road into a nearby swamp as a result of the accident, and the investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability.
