LAKESIDE, CALIFORNIA (October 24, 2017) – Peter Gillcrist was identified as the pilot killed in a plane crash on Saturday near the El Capitan Reservoir, according to a local news source. (map)
Around 3:50 pm on Saturday, an EXTRA EA 300 aerobatic plane took off from Gillespie field, with Peter Gillcrist and passenger Garrett Engler on board. The plane was registered to Sky Combat Aces, a company that deals with providing “air combat” experience packages. The plane did not return to the field as scheduled, and authorities were notified. The plane was located later on Saturday night.
Peter Gillcrist and Garrett Engler were both tragically killed in the accident. The company, Sky Combat Aces, is no stranger to fatal accidents. In April of 2016, another plane registered to the company crashed near Las Vegas, killing the pilot and passenger that were on board.
Saturday’s fatal accident is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board at this time to determine cause and liability.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends affected by this tragic accident,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
