The accident happened around 12:30 am on the northbound side of the 101 Freeway near Kastania Road. 54 year old Douglas Stevenson and his 58 year old female passenger were speeding on the 101 Freeway in a 1996 Volvo when he lost control of the car and crashed off the road into a ditch.
Douglas Stevenson fled the car immediately after the crash, but was located on the Kastania Road overpass by local authorities. Both Stevenson and his passenger were rushed to a hospital, where the female passenger informed police that Douglas Stevenson had forced her into his car outside of a homeless shelter in San Francisco. Douglas Stevenson was then arrested for DUI and kidnapping, and the investigation is ongoing.
“It’s unfortunate that motorists under the influence disregard the negative effects that may ensue from driving under the influence. Drunk drivers continue to endanger the safety of all other drivers,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm, a California car accident and personal injury attorney.
