The accident happened around 10:46 am on Friday, on the 5 Freeway near the San Onofre Nuclear plant. A brown pickup truck with a camper bed allegedly saw a pedestrian on the freeway and swerved to avoid them, causing the pickup truck to collide into a white SUV. Both vehicles subsequently pulled into the center divider.
At least one party suffered major injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital by responding medical personnel. The accident remains under investigation as authorities determine cause and liability.
