The accident happened around 8:28 am at the intersection of Van Houten Street and Main Street. A female pedestrian, in her late 20s to early 30s, was struck by a bus from the 161 line that goes from the Port Authority Bus Terminal to the Paterson Broadway Terminal. Initial reports indicate the woman was walking north on the sidewalk as the bus turned left from Main onto Van Houten Street, and the woman struck or was hit by the back of the bus, sending her under the bus partially.
The woman ended up with her left leg trapped beneath the bus, and was extricated by emergency personnel promptly and rushed to the hospital. Her injuries were described as serious but not life threatening. An investigation into the incident is ongoing at this time.
