PASADENA, CALIFORNIA (January 1, 2017) – A motorcyclist was killed in a tragic collision involving a drunk driver on New Year Day at the intersection of Fair Oaks Avenue and Washington Boulevard, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 4:40 am on Fair Oaks Avenue and Washington Avenue. A motorcyclist identified only as a 57 year old was riding his motorcycle southbound on Fair Oaks Avenue when a 2006 BMW X3 turned in front of him onto Washington Avenue, leading to an accident.
The motorcyclist was ejected from his motorcycle as a result of the impact. Responding paramedics rushed the rider to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries, but he was sadly pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing, but initial reports indicated the driver of the BMW, 42 year old Shawn Antonio, was driving while under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
