The accident happened around 1: 00 am. A female pedestrian was walking on Sierra Highway near Avenue O when they were struck by a passing vehicle.

The pedestrian was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. The investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability. The driver that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

“According to experts drivers are responsible the majority of the time for pedestrian accidents. These collisions occur when drivers are careless and fail to yield in a crosswalk or when they turn right on a red light without looking out for a pedestrian,” said a California pedestrian accident and personal injury lawyer.
