OXNARD, CALIFORNIA (January 4, 2017) – One person was killed and two more were injured in a collision on Rose Avenue on Tuesday, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened just after noon on Rose Avenue near Cesar Chavez Drive. A Nissan 350 Z driven by a 27 year old man was heading north on Rose Avenue when it veered into opposing traffic and hit a commercial pickup truck driven by a 45 year old man. The impact then caused the pickup truck to crash into a Honda Civic, and the pickup then caught on fire. A fourth vehicle may also have been involved.
The driver of the Nissan 350 Z was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. The driver of the commercial vehicle was identified as 45 year old Reynaldo Lugo, who sustained moderate injuries. The driver of the Honda Civic, identified as 21 year old Andre Gutierrez was also hospitalized after the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
