“Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash”
OXNARD, CALIFORNIA (January 4, 2016) – A 27-year-old Oxnard man died in a fiery crash involving several vehicles on Rose Avenue south of Cesar Chavez Drive. (map)
The tragic collision occurred when the 27-year-old driver of a 2001 Nissan 350Z, travelling northbound on Rose Avenue, veered into the southbound lane and collided with a Chevy pickup truck driven by 45-year-old Reynaldo Lugo just south of Cesar Chavez Drive.
The impact of the vehicles caused the Chevy pickup truck to crash into a Honda Civic also travelling southbound. The driver of the Honda Civic was identified as 21-year-old Andre Gutierrez. The Chevy pickup truck caught ablaze. However, Lugo was able to safely exit the pickup.
Emergency rescue personnel was dispatched. The 27-year-old Oxnard man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gutierrez and Lugo were both transported to the hospital and were treated for moderate injuries.
An investigation of the collision is ongoing to determine if drugs and or alcohol were factors in the crash.
