The accident happened around 5:45 am on the eastbound side of SR70 near Ophir Road. A woman was reported traveling over 100 mph in a silver Ford Taurus when she attempted to pass a construction truck and hit an orange Chevrolet HHR driven by a Caltrans employee.
Paul Inman, the driver of the HHR, was tragically confirmed to have been killed in the accident. He had been with Caltrans for over 16 years. The driver of the Ford Taurus was also killed, and was identified only as a female.
Since January of 2017, 13 people have been killed in fatal accidents on Highway 70 between Oroville Dam Boulevard and Central House Road. Tuesday’s accident remains under investigation to determine cause and liability at this time.
