The accident happened around 6:07 pm at the intersection of San Antonio Avenue and Vesta Street. A 55 year old woman identified as Rosario Ramirez was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a 1990s 4 door Toyota sedan, either maroon or red in color that immediately fled the scene.

Rosario Ramirez was rushed to a local hospital immediately, with life threatening injuries including a head injury and a broken pelvis. Her current condition is unknown at this time. The accident is under investigation to determine cause and liability and authorities are attempting to locate the hit and run driver at this time.

“According to experts drivers are responsible the majority of the time for pedestrian accidents. These collisions occur when drivers are careless and fail to yield in a crosswalk or when they turn right on a red light without looking out for a pedestrian,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm, a California pedestrian accident and personal injury law firm.
