BIG BEAR LAKE, CALIFORNIA (July 30, 2017) – An off-duty San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy was killed on Saturday in a small plane crash, according to a local news source. (map)
The small plane, carrying 28 year old Rebecca Joan Raymond and her boyfriend, took off from the Big Bear City Airport in a Cessna 172 Skyhawk. When they did not reach their destination at the Apple Valley Airport, a search for the plane started. Search parties located the plane on Sunday in a remote area of Big Bear mountain.
Both Rebecca Raymond and her boyfriend were tragically killed in the crash. The couple had rented a plane for the weekend to go to big bear for their anniversary, and her boyfriend had reportedly proposed to her. The accident remains under active investigation to determine cause and liability.
