OCEANSIDE: Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Train near Cassidy Street

OCEANSIDE, CALIFORNIA (November 19, 2017) – A pedestrian was struck by an Amtrak train and killed on Sunday afternoon, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened just before 3:00 pm on Cassidy Street, near Broadway. An Amtrak traveling at around 50-60 mph struck a male pedestrian on the tracks for an unknown reason.

The pedestrian was tragically killed as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. It is unknown why the pedestrian was standing on the tracks, but initial reports indicate the crossing is not equipped with pedestrian gates to prevent travel while a train is incoming. The accident remains under open investigation at this time.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.”
