OCEANSIDE, CALIFORNIA (February 13, 2017) – A child was injured and airlifted from an accident scene on the 5 Freeway on Monday morning, according to a California Highway Patrol report. (map)
The accident happened around 2:38 a.m. on the 5 Freeway near Aliso Creek Rest area. A Volkswagen sedan and a BMW collided in the center divider, blocking the middle lanes as a result. A total of six people sustained injuries in the accident, one of which was a child. The child was airlifted to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla for treatment of their injuries.
An investigation into the accident is being conducted by the California Highway Patrol to determine cause and liability.
