An unidentified 23 year old female pedestrian is dead after a fatal car crash on State Route 76 in Oceanside, California.

OCEANSIDE, CALIFORNIA (January 1, 2017) – A fatal pedestrian versus car accident occurred on Sunday, at approximately 5:16 a.m., on State Route 76, near Foussat Road. (map)

Oceanside Police said that the female pedestrian was crossing State Route 76 for unknown reasons. She climbed over the center divide and was struck by a car. The unidentified pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Police stated that the driver was not under the influence.

Police are still investigating the accident to determine the cause.
