OAKLEY, CALIFORNIA (March 2, 2017) – A rollover collision on Thursday morning killed at least one person on State Route 4, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol. (map)

The accident happened around 10:00 a.m. on the eastbound side of State Route 4, near Lauren Road. A light colored Mazda went off the road onto the right hand shoulder for an unknown reason and overturned, landing on its roof and ejecting at least one party.

One person was seen lying on the side of the hill after having been ejected from the vehicle. An ambulance responded to the scene, and at least one party was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP report stated there may have been a second vehicle involved, but the exact details of the accident are unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
