OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA (January 12, 2017) – Two members of the well-known R&B band Tower of Power were hit by a train and injured in Jack London Square on Thursday evening, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 8:00pm near Clay Street and Embarcadero West. An Amtrak train carrying 26 passengers struck two people in Jack London Square, identified as David Garibaldi, a drummer for Tower of Power, and Marc Van Wageningen, a bassist.
Marc Van Wageningen reportedly suffered a concussion, broken ribs, and internal injuries, and 70 year old David Garibaldi sustained injuries to his face. Both were rushed to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. No passengers on board the train reported any injuries. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
