The accident happened around 8:00pm near Clay Street and Embarcadero West. An Amtrak train carrying 26 passengers struck two people in Jack London Square, identified as David Garibaldi, a drummer for Tower of Power, and Marc Van Wageningen, a bassist.

Marc Van Wageningen reportedly suffered a concussion, broken ribs, and internal injuries, and 70 year old David Garibaldi sustained injuries to his face. Both were rushed to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. No passengers on board the train reported any injuries. The accident remains under investigation at this time.

“Almost one death or injury per day occurs on the rail system in the United States. Many of these tragic deaths are avoidable, the rail system is antiquated and needs a complete overhaul to ensure the safety of pedestrians, drivers, and train passengers,” said Attorney from Lexton Law Firm.
