OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA (February 16, 2017) – A semi-truck accident occurred on Thursday morning on Highway 880, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. on the northbound side of Highway 880, near Fifth Avenue. A big rig lost control after driving through standing water, striking a second big rig and a Ford Mustang, before overturning. The 66-year-old male driver of the overturned big rig and his female passenger were both ejected in the accident, falling about 40 feet onto the off-ramp below. The man suffered injuries described as major and the passenger suffered minor injuries.
There was no report of injuries sustained from the second big rig or the Mustang. The accident remains under open investigation at this time.
