Man in Wheelchair Hit by Car on 40th Street

OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA (December 12, 2016) – A man died after a vehicle struck his wheelchair on 40th Street early Monday morning, reported Mercury News. (map)

Orlando Brooks, 56, was hit by a westbound Toyota Camry in a traffic lane at about 5:30 a.m. Monday, in the 1000 block of 40th Street near Emeryville.

Tragically, Orlando Brooks died at the scene of the crash. The driver, an unidentified Oakland resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

The cause of the this accident remains under investigation.
