The fire started in a warehouse known by locals as the “Ghost Ship” which was used as an artist’s live and work space. The warehouse had been leased out to host a rave the night of the fire, which trapped 36 people inside.

One of those trapped was 35 year old Billy Dixon, a musician and computer engineer. Billy was a native of Ohio, and played both the guitar and the keyboard. Dixon had been playing since he was a young child, and impressed all those around him with his talent.

An investigation into the fire is ongoing at this time as authorities attempt to find cause and liability.
