OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA (December 27, 2016) – Barrett Clark, a 35 year old sound engineer from the Bay Area, was tragically confirmed to have been one of the 36 people killed in a fire on December 2nd in a warehouse in Oakland, according to local news sources. (map)
The accident occurred on December 2nd in Oakland’s Ghost Ship warehouse. Barrett Clark, a sound engineer who worked with many venues in the area, was attending a rave in the warehouse the night of the fire. The fire started in the rear of the warehouse and spread quickly, resulting in many people being trapped.
Tragically, one of those trapped and killed in the ensuing blaze was Barrett Clark. The fire is under investigation as authorities attempt to decipher what started the fire, and why the warehouse was being used as a live/work space for many local artists despite not being zoned to do so.
