OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA (December 20, 2016) – Alex Ghassan, a 35 year old filmmaker and father of twins, was identified as one of the victims of the Oakland warehouse fire, according to local news sources. (map)
Alex Ghassan, an up and coming filmmaker who had worked with talent like Spike Lee and Dwayne Wade, was attending a rave inside the warehouse along with his girlfriend Hanna Ruax, who was visiting from Finland. A fire started in the back of the warehouse, which spread quickly and trapped people inside leaving them unable to escape.
Alex Ghassan and Hanna Ruax were both among the 36 victims killed in the fire. Alex Ghassan leaves behind twin daughters. An investigation into the fire is ongoing at this time.
