The accident happened around 8:45 am at the intersection of Broadway Street and Guild Street. A 55 year old woman was crossing the street when she was struck by a swing loader, a type of heavy construction equipment.
The woman was tragically pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the accident. The investigation into the incident is ongoing at this time, and area business owners said the woman was a regular customer.
The swing loader was part of the MBTA’s 3 month long program involving nearby train tracks and the Guild Street bridge. The employee was taken to the hospital for shock and is in unknown condition.
